On-Water

Days:  Sailing is conducted most Saturdays between September and April with a presentation of awards and trophies in May.  Refer sailing program for more detail.

Classes:  We currently sail; sabots, flying ants, MG/MGB, skate and a miscellaneous class. Training is available through the Club to suit all levels of sailors in all the various classes.

Intermediate Training:  Sailors are given opportunity to assist the beginner class (9am-11.30am) and extend their skills, knowledge and time on the water with instruction (11.30-1pm) using the radio headsets.  Sailors are encouraged to begin participating in the afternoon race(s) at no extra cost, race starts are not before 1.30pm which allows sailors to have lunch between the sessions.  Refer sailing instructions for further details.

Beginner Training:  TASC conducts an 8 week beginner training course for up to 18 sailors aged 6 years +.  Refer Training link and program for further details.

Racing:  Sailors are encouraged to participate in afternoon races and gradually build their skills up to complete a race by the end of the season.  Racing is open to anyone who feels confident to make the start line - all classes of boats welcome.  Refer TASC sailing instructions for further information

Trial period: TASC offers new sailors a 3 week trial period prior to joining.  Daily race fee still applies.

Radio headsets:  TASC owns several radio headsets (helmets) which are used within the beginner and intermediate training classes for sailors.  These can be heard individually or group.  The headsets build greater self confidence, self esteem, saves the instructors throat and ensures sailors hear instructions more clearly making their time on the water more enjoyable, rewarding and safer.

Off-water

Canteen:  The canteen is run by very enthusiastic and supportive parents who attempt to keep costs of food and drink to a minimum, we believe the canteen is a service to members, not a money making avenue.  However, any profits made are welcome.  Both men & women welcome to assist.

Costs:  Sailing is not an expensive sport compared to other sports available. TASC attempts to keep costs to members at a minimum.  Like all sporting groups, we have high insurance costs, upkeep to motor and sail boats, ongoing maintenance of the clubhouse, fuel for support boats, radio’s, safety equipment, training speaker headsets, etc.
