Training
| This page should be used as a resource by students and instructors, also regularly check the program for updates. Paul Connelly
(pconnelly@optusnet.com.au) and David Wilde are the
co-ordinators of the training program while Will Mueller (william.mueller@studentmail.newcastle.edu.au) is the head instructor. The six week training course
is open to participants aged from 6 years upwards and caters for up
to 18 sailors. The fee per student (insurance & program costs)
is $75. Orientation day was 19th September, week 1 of training
begins 26th September 9-11.30am. Participants are required to
tread water for a minimum of 10 minutes and swim a minimum distance
of 50 metres with a life jacket on. Sailors will learn the basics
of sailing and be able to continue into the intermediate class of sailing
conducted at TASC on completion. Those wishing to participate
in the next beginner training class are asked to register with the club
secretary in June/July prior to the start of the sailing season, this
is a popular course and does book out quickly. A reduction to membership fees is available if you decide to continue sailing throughout the remaining sailing season at completion of the beginner course. Forms can be downloaded from this site and either mailed or hand delivered to the clubhouse. Compared to most sporting activities, sailing is not an expensive sport to participate in, refer membership form for membership costs to suit your needs. Sailors within the training course have access to club boats if you do not as yet have your own boat, instruction is from an on-water vessel via radio headsets. Any person under the age of 16 years must submit a consent form signed by their parent/guardian. All persons 18 years and over must complete all child protection forms (download from the TASC site).Rhonda Domanti TASC Secretary 2009-2010 Email; rdomanti@hotmail.com |
