Junior Learn to Sail

Toronto Amateur Sailing Club Junior Learn to Sail Classes

Sailing is a great sport, unparalleled for teaching kid’s independence and self-reliance; they match themselves against the elements in a racing machine without an adult at the controls!

These courses usually run for 6 weeks on Sunday mornings.

  • Lessons for children 7-16 years of age.
  • Lessons are between 09:00am and 12:00pm on Sundays unless otherwise advised. A responsible adult must be present at all times.
  • Australian Sailing trained instructors.
  • The non-refundable payment for the 6 week course is $250 (including Club and Australian Sailing Membership). Enrolment is via our Events page or click Here. Junior Consent forms can be downloaded below.
  • Participants need to be able to swim 50m+.
  • For more information please Contact Hugh Tait at tascfun@gmail.com.

EXPECTATIONS, REQUIREMENTS & COMMITMENT

  • The directions of the Instructors and Assistant Instructors must be followed at all times.
  • Lessons are between 09:00am and 12:00pm on Sundays unless otherwise advised.
  • A responsible adult must be present at all times.
  • The presence of parents/guardians on safety boats is at the Instructor’s discretion.
  • At the beginning of the course students will be shown how to care for the boats, thereafter they must do this for themselves. If parents/guardians do it for them, this prevents students learning the skill for themselves.
  • The lesson does not end until the boats are properly washed, dried, packed away and students debriefed and signed off. The Instructors will tell the students when the lesson has finished.
