Toronto Amateur Sailing Club

About

Toronto Amateur Sailing Club is located on the western side of Lake Macquarie in Regatta Park, Toronto. We have been at the current location since the mid seventies. The club was built by volunteers on partly reclaimed land after the club swapped the old club and land for a 25 years lease on the current site. Our original site was on the foreshore approximately halfway between the current club house and the RMYC.

Our club has been built from materials supplied or donated by locals. Even the old railway rails were used in the construction. (These were left from the old train switch yard that was between the old station and the old Lifestyle Marine site at the southern end of what is now Regatta Park).

We sail most Sundays these days and some Saturdays from September through to April as per our program. During winter the last Sunday of each month is a working bee.

We welcome beginners and experienced sailors. For the beginner we offer beginner training course, we suggest registering for this in June/July and November/December as these book out very quickly. Sailors
can progress through to the intermediate class and move on to afternoon racing.

We also have a "Sailability" section which offers sailing and sail training to many in the community that are unable to sail traditional dinghies. Sailability sail several times a week in summer.

Toronto Amateur Sailing Club also have a need for volunteers to assist in support activities for the club. These support activities are very rewarding.

It is highly recommended that sailors own their own boat. TASC can supply beginner sailors with the use of a club boat short-term, however these are always in high demand.
Our prime reason for being is to foster and encourage sailing.

We sail centreboard dinghies of various sizes. There is no restriction on the classes sailed and everyone is welcome to sail from the club. Racing is offered for classes that have more than three starters of the same class and a miscellaneous division is offered for mixed yardstick racing. Refer sailing link for individual class information.

Toronto has wonderful facilities catering to the sailor and non-sea going members. Facilities within Toronto are varied and plentiful. We have been well supported over many years by local businesses and recommend the following:

  • Stay at the Catalina Motel, The Brighton Apartment, Toronto Hotel or the Lakeside Caravan Park. Toronto (For regatta accommodation this link may help. There are plenty of options close to the club.
  • Dine at Toronto Workers Club, Toronto Diggers and/or Royal Motor Yacht Club there are also many assorted local restaurants to be found within the area.
